The earliest land deed I have found belongs to my paternal grandfather’s grandfather, Louis McGill.
Louis can be found in the Williamsburg County, South Carolina deed books as early as 1885. He and his wife Lucy are both recorded in deed books buying and selling land in the 1880s.
My great grandfather also owned land in Williamsburg County, SC.
Some of my great-grandfather’s land is still in the family.
