About

I started chasing branches of my family tree after being assigned a family history project in the 4th grade.
I was very fortunate to grow up interacting with my grandparents and my maternal great grandparents. My maternal grandmother was a great story teller and I would sometimes just sit, mesmerized, listening to the stories of her life and the people who shaped it. It was the obituary of her grandmother, Claudie Picket Dent and my paternal grandfather, Henry Scott/Willie McGill that got me hooked.

My interests include the antebellum South, telling the stories of my enslaved ancestors, African Americans in the military and using DNA to expand my family history.

After all of the years of researching my family, I am working toward becoming a Certified Genealogist.
